Labor Day Weekend

We've been making the most of the waning warm long days of summer with evening walks and lots of time outdoors. September started off with a visit to Ohio. Kirk's mom has been feeling pretty good lately so we wanted her to get home for a visit and let Jaisal run around on the farm.

We had intended for Jaisal to have his first "backyard" camping experience, but the combination of really humid weather plus nightly rain ruined those plans. Instead we bought Jaisal his first set of golf clubs.

Admittedly Jaisal didn't really get the concept of how to hold the club properly.

Or swing, but we had a great time playing golf anyway.

The weekend also included a visit to the zoo. Jaisal loves gorillas. As long as they were statues. Little man wanted nothing to do with the real gorillas.  It turns out that Jaisal is scared of nearly everything. We experienced a lot of scaredy cat Jaisal all weekend, so I think we'll work on getting him out and about a bit more. Of course between bouts of fear we had lots of fun.

Feeding the larakeets.

Until they got scary.

Hopping like a kangaroo.

High-fiving a polar bear is okay.

Giving him a hug was not. Lesson learned.

Last time we were at the farm, Jaisal loved the animals. This time, not so much.  Jaisal was scared of the horse, despite having spent the preceding hour playing with horse toys.

Not happy after stopping in to see the chickens.

We salvaged a visit to the cows by encouraging some moo'ing.

At least all the playing and crying made Jaisal tired. He slept 3.5 hours on the car ride home. Overall a wonderful weekend!
