Random goings on

Well hello there! You still around? We still are, just really terrible at blogging these days. Little man keeps us busy, but that means there are a lot of fun things to share when we get around to it.

First and foremost, I should say that Jaisal is the sweetest little guy. (It makes up for the fact that he is a contrarian as much as possible and employs selective hearing as a very effective weapon.) This picture captures one of his sweetest moments. He was with my mom in the suburbs meeting me at the train station. As we walked to the car next to one another, he forced himself on to the track side (which I only let him do since there was no train in sight), saying that he had to walk on that side so that he could protect me. Where does a 4 year old even learn that? Needless to say, I smothered him with hugs and kisses after that.

September was a big month for the little man because he started school! He attends a Montessori program five days a week. He loves his school, his teachers, and his classmates.

He's adjusted remarkably well to going to school, except nap time. He tends to want to make noise, sing, or jump on other kids' cots. sigh. We're working on that issue, but have seen so much growth in other areas. Jaisal always wants to help us with our tasks now and in particular loves cooking. He has his own "work" at home, including letting Denali out to go to the bathroom in the morning and feeding her twice a day.  He's also becoming increasingly independent. We're allowed to walk the kiddos to their lockers at school. Recently Jaisal has been telling me I can't come up the stairs with him. The first time he did that, I may have hidden in the hallway and watched him through the window in the hallway doors. He may have been ready to make the trek without me, but I wasn't!

Later in the month we went on our annual trip to pick some apples and a pumpkin. Since it was a Sunday with a Bears game, little man would not leave the house without his Matt Forte jersey.

And then he wouldn't leave the farm without a ride on the Moo Choo.

On another weekend, he continued his Bears affection with his first ever tailgate not too far from Soldier Field. Between throwing a football, the el going by, and endless amounts of potato chips to eat, Jaisal was in heaven.

Last but not least, little man's interest in yoga continues to increase. He asks to do it by himself sometimes and loves Cosmic Kids yoga.
