- He's obsessed with trains. We build train tracks nearly daily. Lately he also seems obsessed with tunnels, so we think we're going to use that as a reward target for potty training.
- Jaisal is not potty trained. He will happily use the toilet but he really doesn't want to tell us when he needs to use the toilet. We're thinking the bribery mentioned above might just do the trick.
- Jaisal is an amazing eater. He eats nearly as much as I do at most meals and will eat everything. Well everything except yogurt. The kid has some kind of vendetta against yogurt in any form. Other than that, you can give him nearly any fruit, vegetable or meat with any sort of seasoning on it and odds are he'll eat it. One other odd quirk is that Jaisal won't drink anything besides water and milk, and even then water must be from a glass and milk must be from a bottle. Crazy kid.
- Jaisal loves music. He loves singing. He loves being sung to. When I put Jaisal to bed there's usually a 3-5 song set list before he's willing to consider sleep.
(Making his own tunes with a harmonica.)
- Sleep. It continues to be our nemesis. Jaisal is a great napper. We've been known to take 3 hour naps together on the weekend. Overnight sleeping is a different story. It doesn't matter how early or late you put Jaisal to bed. He is always awake between 5 and 5:30. It's brutal. I am not a morning person, and even though Kirk is, we both think anything before 6 is still the night. I really hope he learns to appreciate sleeping in before age 15.
- On the topic of sleep, we've fallen into some bad habits with Jaisal. When he was sick in November and then hospitalized, we started sleeping with him because he couldn't breathe at night, etc. It's a habit that we're struggling to break now. Okay fine we're not even really trying to break it. You know why? Little man has turned into a world class snuggler. There's pretty much nothing greater than cuddling with that kid and him falling asleep saying he loves you and waking up with pure joy at the fact that you're next to him. I'm pretty sure he's intentionally manipulated us this way. He's pretty savvy that way.
