2 Years!!

Two years ago today, Scott was brave and caring enough to undergo surgery and donate part of his liver for us. Two years ago today, we took our little man back into anesthesia to remove his crappy old liver and give him a new lease on life with his new friend Sir Oliver.

It seems so long ago. Yet not that long at all.

These days life is remarkably normal. That, of course, was the goal of the transplant, but it surprises me that it's true.

We all still bear the scars of that day. Jaisal, Kirk, and Scott literally and the rest of us emotionally and mentally.  I know I am a changed person. It was a double whammy. You change when you become a parent and then change again when illness strikes. I think those changes are permanent, but not necessarily bad.

All of this is just details. Little details if you can imagine.

Because we went from a kid who was yellow and frail, but still happy and energetic

to one who is beautiful, still skinny, vivacious, caring, funny, smart, and loving. A perfect little man.

We are so incredibly lucky.  Happy transplantiversary Jaisal and Scott!
