We roped Neal, Susie, and Laila into joining us on a trip out to Keystone, Colorado. Jaisal handled his first plane ride like a champ with minimal crying, although the drive out to the mountains was a little less smooth. Nevertheless we had a great time doing some hiking, wandering around the ghost town that was Keystone resort, spending some quality time in a hot tub, and caring for Neal and Kirk's wounds after a morning of downhill biking.
Our first hike didn't go quite as planned. It seems that I read the webpage wrong and the gondola is closed most of the time during the summer. We were told we could take the kids up on the ski lift, but for some reason having a squirmy 1-year old on a chairlift, well above the ground, with no seat belt just didn't seem like a safe idea, so we "hiked" around the resort.
After some internet searching we found some real hikes. Nothing too ambitious, but a chance to get outside and realize how much harder it is to catch your breath in the mountains.

Enjoying some quality bonding time at Lily Pad Lake with my little man.
The travel group!
We finally made it to the top of the mountain.
We finally made it to the top of the mountain.
It was so fun to spend time with time with Neal, Susie, and Laila, despite the fact that we may have looked ridiculous at times with our matching kid carriers and strollers. I just chalk it up to us all having exquisitely good taste when purchasing kid items. I hope we get to have a lot more trips together in the future!
