Liver Update

Jaisal's liver (yet unnamed because Kirk and I can't agree on a name from your fabulous suggestions) is happy. His labs are trending in the right direction and a couple have even reached normal levels!! His last prograf level showed that it was finally in the therapeutic range.

One of our favorite thing about Jaisal's new liver, beyond the obvious of Jaisal no longer looking jaundiced and being able to absorb fats and vitamins, his belly is normal sized and he can wear pants without them falling down. Before transplant, his belly was so big and his butt so skinny that only pants that were a few sizes too small would stay on, but then he'd look like he was wearing flood pants. Now he can wear age appropriate pants AND walk around without his pants ending up around his ankles. Dressing the little man just got a whole lot more fun.

Scott's liver also is doing well. Scott had an impromptu trip to Chicago this week and stopped by the hospital to visit. We were super surprised and excited to see him. We learned that he finally figured out a way to beat the lingering nausea from the surgery. He and Chris had tried everything. Natural foods, lean foods, fruits, vegetables, etc., all upset his stomach. The  surprising discovery of what Scott could eat -heavily processed, fatty foods. So bizarre, but I'm happy fast food joints are what does Scott's body and liver good. McDonalds, this seems like a unique marketing opportunity for you.

Here's a pic of a shirt Scott and Chris got for Jaisal. The back says Jaisal, naturally. Sorry for the sideways picture. Considering blogger is a google company and I have an Android based phone, the blogger app is surprisingly basic without many bells and whistles to allow me to format my posts.
