like donkey kong (sorry, I couldn't resist). Kirk just went into surgery. We expect Jaisal to be called down for prep in the next hour. Jaisal's surgery won't start until after they are sure kirk's liver will definitely work.
We also learned this morning that Jaisal's portal vein may have closed off. Luckily Northwestern did a liver transplant last night and they have some extra vein grafts they can use for Jaisal if necessary. That's great news since with a living donor transplant, there are no extra bits for the surgeons to use.
Kirk's surgery should last 3 to 5 hours and Jaisal's will take around 6 to 10 hours.
