A Laid Back Weekend

This was our first weekend at home with no hospitals in nearly a month, and we had so much fun! Jaisal has developed an interest in books. He loves being read to and flipping through books. Naturally then he feels the need to take down every one of his books from his bookshelf every single day.

He also loves music. He turns on all of his musical toys (usually simultaneously) and starts dancing. This weekend he figured out how to turn on the iPod in his room and would make specific trips there just to dance. I wasn't able to catch him on video, but dancing for Jaisal consists of a mix of bouncing, shaking his head, and stomping his feet. It's pretty adorable, if I do say so myself.

Jaisal notices that his dad wears a baseball cap most of the time on the weekend. This weekend he finally mastered putting one of the hats on himself.

Best of all, he started walking this weekend. He's been taking a few hesitant steps here and there for a while, but this weekend he just decided to start walking. (Also, I know we need to invest in a real video camera. The video function on our point and shoot camera clearly is not cutting it.)



I'm sure that all parents are excited when their kids hit this milestone, but for us, it's truly amazing. A lot of BA babies that are waiting for a transplant fall behind developmentally since they don't feel well and have these large bellies that alter their center of gravity. Although they tend to catch up after transplant, we were extra excited to get to enjoy seeing Jaisal walk pre-transplant!
